Developing the Joint (click for more)
The development of the Joint that will connect between two logs, and will be milled using the CNC technique. We created a udimentary digital design prototype of the Joint using the SolidCAM program while simultaneously working in the milling achine. This gave us the ability to fix and learn in real time. After we connected the separate wooden logs, using the Joint, we gave them a stress test on the two axis’ on which this joint works. We loaded about a 25kg's worth of concrete on each side, and afterwards, added an adult's weight as well - where in each log is almost a meter in length. The Joint itself is about 40cms in length. The test was successful and the Joint withstood a load much higher than the load it will need to hold as part of the entire structure.
