The Henry Urbach Summer Installation Project promotes the creation of local microclimate in the hot-arid climate of Jerusalem, by designing and building a temporary entrance pavilion to the Architecture Department at Bezalel. The installation is carried out within the special Designbuild studio: 'The Architect-Maker' , which is focuses on the process of making and experimenting with materials as the driving force of architectural design. The course allows a "hands-on" engagement with materials and the realization of full-scale prototype structures. This enables students to explore and experience unique spatial ideas, climatic responses, innovative fabrication techniques, material performance as well as develop novel design processes.
The project is generously supported by The Henry Urbach Foundation, The Israeli Green Building Council, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
